To register with the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC), apply on its online portal, regonlinetsmc.in, pay the fee and appear at the council office in Hyderabad with your originals for final registration. Registration is not for life: the Act as adapted to Telangana requires renewal every five years, with CME credit hours. Everything below comes from the council's website onlinetsmc.in and its downloadable forms and notices, read on 31 Oct 2026. The council now also signs some notices as the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC). The website NMC lists for it, tsmconline.in, did not load when we checked.
Who must register with the Telangana council?
Anyone practising modern medicine in Telangana. The council works under the Andhra Pradesh Medical Practitioners Registration Act, 1968 (Act No. 23 of 1968, amended in 1986 and 2013), adapted to Telangana by G.O.Ms. No. 68 HM&FW of 3 Aug 2015, which the council publishes on its site. Section 20 of that text says no person other than a registered practitioner shall "practise the modern scientific medicine or hold-himself out whether directly or by implication as practicing". Doctors registered in another state attach their latest NOC, registration certificate and degree certificate to the final registration form. Our state medical councils overview explains how state and national registration fit together.

How does the TSMC online application work?
The council's FAQ sends all applicants to regonlinetsmc.in. Doctors already holding a TSMC or APMC registration, including those with only provisional registration, sign in through "TSMC/APMC Registered Doctor Sign In" to apply for final registration, additional qualifications, renewal, good standing or NOC. Only doctors with no registration in the state use "New Doctor Sign Up". The council suggests applying from a desktop or laptop. Tatkal certificates can be collected in person within 24 hours, between 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM, and "No authorization letters will be accepted"; after that they are couriered. The office works Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, except the second Saturday, and the online server is down from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
When is TSMC renewal due and how many CME hours?
Every five years. The renewal form says every registered practitioner "shall renew his Registration after expiry of the period of five years from the date of his/her original Registration with a grace period of 1 year", after which a delay fee of ₹500 a year applies, up to ₹2,000. Section 15C of the Act says a practitioner who fails to renew "shall cease to be a registered practitioner" and the Registrar shall remove the name. The council's notice of 29 Nov 2023 phases in CME credit hours for renewal: 6 from 1 Jan 2024, 12 from 2025, 18 from 2026, 24 from 2027 and 30 from 1 Jan 2028. The homepage adds that credit points are needed even for doctors over 65, who must visit the office in person to renew their basic MBBS registration. Our renewal and CME credits guide compares states.
How do I verify a Telangana doctor's registration?
The council homepage links a Doctor Search at regonlinetsmc.in/doctorsearch; it returned a server error when we tried it on 31 Oct 2026, so try again later. The Indian Medical Register search on the NMC website lists doctors registered with state councils and can be searched by name, registration number, year or council, with the note that "This data is being updated." See our note on the National Medical Register.

Where must the registration number appear?
Clause 1.4.1 of the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 reads: "Every physician shall display the registration number accorded to him by the State Medical Council / Medical Council of India in his clinic and in all his prescriptions, certificates, money receipts given to his patients." Clause 1.4.2 limits the suffixes after your name to recognised degrees and qualifying certificates or honours.
Vitels prints prescriptions on your own letterhead, A4 or A5, with your TSMC registration number on every page, and verifies the registration when you sign up. Set up the header with the free clinic letterhead maker, or see e-prescription software.
