J&K Medical Council registration (JKMC) | Vitels The JKMC e-portal, the documents for each certificate, the HPR ID rule and how to search the register.
Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council registration is applied for on the council's e-portal at jkmedicalcouncil.in/eportal, which takes provisional, permanent and additional qualification registration, NOC and good standing certificate applications. Since 29 Jan 2026 the council asks for a Healthcare Professional Registration ID before most applications other than first registration.

- The council's Registrations page lets anyone search permanent registrations by registration number or name.
To register with the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC), apply online on its e-portal at jkmedicalcouncil.in/eportal. On 31 Oct 2026 the portal had live application links for registration (provisional, permanent and additional qualification), a no objection certificate, a good standing certificate and corrections to a registration. The council's home page says it was constituted under the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Registration Act on 1 May 1941 and that the Act extends to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The Act on the council's site is titled the Medical Registration Act, Svt. 1998 (1941 A.D.).
Which registrations does JKMC offer?
Provisional, permanent, additional qualification, NOC and good standing, all applied for on the e-portal. The council's document list also covers reciprocal permanent registration, for a doctor already registered with another council, which needs a no objection certificate. The home page mentions CME registrations, duplicate certificates and verification as portal services too, but those links were switched off on the portal page when we read it. The council has not published a fee schedule on the pages we read; its good standing notice refers to "payment of the prescribed fee", so the amount appears when you apply.

Which documents does permanent registration need?
The council's list of documents required from Indian medical graduates gives these for permanent registration:
- MBBS degree certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- University MBBS passing result notification
- Date of birth certificate or 10th marks sheet
- 12th marks sheet
- Provisional registration certificate of JK Medical Council
- NEET UG passing certificate
- Declaration form (www.jkmedicalcouncil.in, Online Registration)
- No objection certificate, in case of reciprocal permanent registration
- Coloured passport size photograph (130 px by 120 px)
- Any other document required, case to case
Provisional registration needs the 10th and 12th marks sheets, the provisional MBBS passing certificate, the university result notification, the NEET UG passing certificate, the declaration form and a photograph. Additional qualification registration adds the degree, the JKMC permanent certificate, the NEET PG passing certificate, marks card or result notification and the HPR number. A good standing certificate needs the registration certificates, working experience of the last five years, an affidavit from a First Class Magistrate and the HPR number; an NOC needs the certificates, the affidavit and the HPR number. Foreign medical graduates have a separate document list on the portal. See also our list of documents required to open a clinic.
What changed in 2023 and 2026?
Two notices change what you pay and what you need. A notice signed by the Registrar on 1 Feb 2023 says "Goods and Services Tax (G.S.T) will be applicable @18% on all the services / registration fee with effect from 1st February 2023." Notification JKMC-07 of 2026, dated 29 Jan 2026, says the forms for "Additional Qualification Registrations, Good Standing Certificates, No Objection Certificates and Renewal Registrations" require a Healthcare Professional Registration ID, and that "before applying for any of such application one has to apply for Healthcare Professional Registration ID (HPR ID)". The portal links to hprid.abdm.gov.in.
Notification JKMC-19 of 2026, dated 9 Oct 2026, covers good standing certificates for doctors living outside India: they are limited to the period of the applicant's presence in India, based on records for the preceding three years, and "shall not attest to the applicant's professional conduct or disciplinary status subsequent to their departure from India."
Does JKMC require renewal and CME credits?
The January 2026 notice names "Renewal Registrations" among the applications that need an HPR ID, but we found no renewal period, renewal fee or CME credit requirement on the pages we read on 31 Oct 2026, and the renewal link on the portal page was switched off. Ask the Registrar before you assume your certificate has no end date. Our guide to registration renewal and CME credits compares states.
How do you verify a JKMC registration?
On the council's Registrations page (jkmedicalcouncil.in/register.php). It has separate lists for permanent, provisional, foreign graduate provisional, additional qualification, good standing and NOC certificates, split into data from May 2021 onwards and data up to April 2021. The permanent list searches by registration number or name and shows the registration number, name with parentage, qualifications, date of registration and permanent address. For other states, use the Indian Medical Register search on the NMC website, which searches by name. The National Medical Register is replacing it: PIB's release of 23 Aug 2024 says doctors already on the IMR "have to register again on the NMR", with each application "automatically forwarded to the respective State Medical Council for verification".
How do you contact JKMC?
The council has an office in each capital, open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, except holidays. These details are from its Contact Us page, read on 31 Oct 2026; the NMC directory shows older addresses.
| Office | Address | Telephone and helpline | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Srinagar | Sector-1 Gulberg Colony, Opposite Jamkash Vehicleades, Hyderpora, Srinagar 190014 | 0194-4501950; helpline 9484320991 | admink@jkmedicalcouncil.in |
| Jammu | 235 A, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu 180004 | 0191-2459221; helpline 9419128284 | adminj@jkmedicalcouncil.in |
Where must the registration number appear?
In the clinic and on every prescription, certificate and money receipt. Clause 1.4.1 of the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 says: "Every physician shall display the registration number accorded to him by the State Medical Council / Medical Council of India in his clinic and in all his prescriptions, certificates, money receipts given to his patients." Clause 1.4.2 allows only recognised medical degrees and qualifying diplomas, memberships or honours as a suffix to your name. Print your JKMC number and degrees on the letterhead; the free clinic letterhead maker lays one out. In Vitels the prescription prints on your clinic letterhead with the registration number, on A4 or A5, from the e-prescription software.
