Software for a single-doctor clinic

Software for a single-doctor clinic with or without a receptionist

Vitels is clinic management software for single-doctor and small multi-doctor clinics in India: patient registration, token queue, consultation, prescription pad, billing and reports. A clinic with one doctor runs on the free plan, with no licence fee, no per-patient fee and every receptionist included. It works offline and runs in the browser on the computer you already have.

In short

What does a one-doctor clinic need from software?

Less than vendors usually sell it. A one-doctor OPD needs to find a returning patient fast, keep the day's line in order, write and print a prescription in the time a short visit allows, take the fee and see the day's total. It does not need a hospital system, a per-doctor licence or a module for every department. In Vitels the whole OPD day for one doctor is on the free plan; Vitels Pro is only needed when a second doctor joins.

Can a doctor with no receptionist run Vitels alone?

Yes. The doctor who sets up the clinic can be both the doctor and the clinic admin, which together cover registration, the queue, the prescription pad and billing from one login. A walk-in patient is found by phone number or registered, given a token, seen, prescribed and billed without switching accounts.

If you hire a receptionist later, add them by their mobile number. They get the front desk; you keep the pad. The free plan includes every attendant and receptionist you add, so the bill does not change when the desk grows.

How fast is a visit for a patient on the same medicines?

A large part of a single doctor's day is repeat visits: blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, patients who come back for the same prescription. Vitels makes that visit three interactions: Start, F4 to repeat the last prescription, then Ctrl+Enter to save and print. Change one line before printing if the dose has changed.

New prescriptions are keyboard-first as well: drug search, frequency and duration chips, your favourites on F8. The pad never suggests a drug, a dose or a diagnosis; it records what you decide. More on the pad on e-prescription software.

What does a single-doctor clinic pay?

Nothing for core Vitels: no licence fee, no per-doctor fee, no per-patient fee, and no card asked for at sign-up. Vitels Pro at ₹999 per clinic per month adds a second doctor, an online registration link for patients and revenue analysis; a one-doctor clinic does not need it to run the OPD. The full split is on free clinic management software.

The real cost of a small clinic's software is often the hardware and the time to switch. A one-doctor clinic needs one computer or laptop with a current browser, a printer for prescriptions and receipts, and an internet connection; an 80 mm slip printer only if you want printed tokens.

When should a one-doctor clinic not use Vitels?

If most of your work is outside an OPD, such as procedures that need specialty charting, imaging inside the record or day-care beds, Vitels will not cover it. If you want teleconsultation, ABHA linking or online payment today, those are not live. And if your clinic will have two doctors from the first day, read multi-doctor clinic software first.

In Vitels

A one-doctor OPD day in Vitels

Each item is live today and included in the free plan.

  • Works with no receptionist

The doctor who runs the clinic can hold both the doctor and clinic admin roles, so one login registers patients, runs the queue, writes the prescription and records the fee.

  • Keyboard-first pad

F2 adds a drug, F8 opens favourites, Ctrl+Enter saves and prints. Favourites and multi-drug templates for the medicines you write every day.

  • Repeat visits in three steps

For a patient on the same medicines: Start, F4 to repeat the last prescription, Ctrl+Enter to save and print. Any earlier prescription can be repeated from the history.

  • Your letterhead, not ours

Prescriptions print on the clinic letterhead with your logo and registration number, A4 or A5, with no Vitels branding.

  • Fee and day book

Record the fee in cash, UPI or card, print an A5 receipt and see the day's total by payment mode in the A4 day book.

  • Follow-ups due

Set a follow-up at the end of the visit; the follow-up due list shows who should be back.

  • Keeps going offline

Queue, consultation, prescription print and billing keep working when the broadband drops, and sync when it returns.

  • Your records, any time

The clinic admin downloads every record as CSV files in a zip, on demand, with no approval and no fee.

A one-hour test before you move a single patient in

Run it on any product you are considering, at the clinic computer, on a normal day's mix of patients.

  1. Register three test patients, two of them on one phone number as a family.

  2. Put them in the queue, call the next token and complete a visit.

  3. Write a three-drug prescription, then repeat it for a second visit. Time both.

  4. Print on your letterhead in A5 and check the registration number is on it.

  5. Record one cash and one UPI fee and print the day book.

  6. Switch the Wi-Fi off and do one more visit.

  7. Download the full export and open it in a spreadsheet.

Not for everyone

When a single-doctor clinic should look elsewhere

We would rather you find this out here than after you have moved your patients in.

  • Clinics that need teleconsultation, ABHA linking or online payment at booking: not live today.
  • Clinics whose main work needs specialty charting or imaging in the record, such as dental charting.
  • Nursing homes with beds, IPD, a pharmacy store or a lab: Vitels covers the OPD only.
  • Doctors who want software that never touches the internet: Vitels is a browser app and sign-in needs a connection.
